Kit Contents
This kit includes all of the components you'll need to wire a Strat in the conventional way, with one volume control and two tone controls. We've improved on convention, so you'll be able to select which pickups the tone controls are assigned to, which gives you a lot more flexibility than the old way!
The kit contains 250k short-bushing pots. 250k is the value traditionally used in Strats, and is the value that the majority of people consider to be most appropriate for use with single-coil pickups.
The pots' threaded bushings are .375" diameter, and .250" long. This length is appropriate for mounting to thinner materials such as pickguards or metal control plates.
Customizable Tone Control
By manipulating the mini DIP switches on the circuit board, the tone controls can be assigned to the pickups that you want, in any combination. Additionally, the functionality of the tone controls can be customized by selecting either a .022uF or .047uF capacitor. Switching between the two values makes the tone controls roll off more or less of the high frequencies, so you can try both values and see which is more to your liking.
Volume Kit
We've included a volume kit (also called a treble-bleed network) that may be used or bypassed, that prevents your guitar's tone from changing when you roll down the volume control. All vintage Fenders, had this issue: rolling down the volume control to 5 or 6 reduced the volume, but also caused a tonal change, with some of the treble frequencies being reduced. Many players consider this to be a problem, and our experience is that using a volume kit is an effective way to deal with it.
